Get Ready for the Tipton County Pork Festival

Summer Festival

Each September in Tipton, residents gather to enjoy an event that harkens the end of summer — the Tipton County Pork Festival. This year, the festival takes place September 6-8. Here’s a quick look at some of the Dan Young GM staff’s favorite activities you can enjoy during this beloved event.

Enjoy some delicious food

It wouldn’t be a pork festival without — you guessed it — pork. From pork chops and pork burgers to ribs and pulled pork, the options are nearly endless. All you have to do is check out the Pork Court, and you’ll find a variety of eateries and plenty of places to relax and enjoy your food.

Catch some live entertainment

Throughout the festival, you will find a long list of live entertainment options, including some local bands. The event headliner is Bobby Miller, who will perform Michael Jackson tunes. Also performing will be Timeless Tina, paying tribute to the music of Tina Turner. They’ll go on stage Saturday, September 8 at 8:30 p.m.

Watch the parades

There are two parades during the Pork Festival — one to kick off the festival’s opening and another to close it down. Both of these parades are worth lining up for, especially if you want to catch sight of the festival’s queen.

Check Out the Tipton County Pork Festival

Tipton County Pork FestivalDan Young GM is proud to call Tipton its home. One of the best annual events in Tipton is the Tipton County Pork Festival, which will be held this year from September 7 through September 9. The Tipton County Pork Festival has been an ongoing tradition since 1969, making 2017 the 49th year for this not-for-profit event meant to promote the pork chops that support the Tipton economy.

If you plan to visit this year, you will want to check out the schedule of events ahead of time to make sure you don’t miss crowd favorites such as the parade, the karaoke contest, the mainstage events, the bike ride, the tractor pull, and, of course, all the great food. Live entertainment this year includes Kevin Jones, Southern Country, DEVON, Rogers Ritual, and Bobby Miller doing a Prince tribute.

Be sure to check out the Pork Court and enjoy as many food vendors as your stomach will allow, but also save time for the art show, crafts, the pageant, and more. You can access a map for the event here—trust us, you’ll need it.

We at Dan Young GM hope to see you at this year’s Tipton County Pork Festival! Happy eating!
