Finally Seattle decides it’s interested in the idea of summer! Today is beautiful here, 71 degrees and I don’t intend on spending half my day writing up some lengthy inspirational essay to pass off as a blog, so I’m going to keep it short…

I rolled my ankle again. I was running around the backyard with a roman candle the night of July 4th, tripped on the um…grass. Falling to the ground amongst the drone of surrounding fireworks, was almost exciting, definitely painful and absolutely sweet looking. My friends said I was the coolest looking guy at the party, said it reminded them of a war movie. So in other words I was pretty much the life of the party after that. (Sarcasm).

So I’ve just been taking ‘er easy these last few days, sitting on my ass writing music…it’s nice. New material is sounding sweet, it has a good energy to it. I’m taking my time though, I’m in no way OK with rushing a record. I hate when bands do that, it nearly always makes for a bland and ordinary album…no no no. No good.

Greetings fellow earthlings,
We in This Prov have just wrapped up about a week of writing. It was the most prolific and successful writing session I’ve ever been a part of. We are stoked on making this new record as it will be the most cohesive and collaborative project we’ve created yet. After nearly two months off the road, it feels so good to just be playing music again. It feels so weird being home, pretending to be a normal person again, and then all of a sudden jumping back in to “band mode.”

I’m stoked for this writing process. It’s already much more organic than any way we’ve approached it before. Keep your eyes and oranges peeled.
