SILVERCHAIR - Straight Lines
When I tell people that Silverchair is one of my favourite bands, some people are like, “Who?” and others are like, “Oh yeah, I loved Frogstomp, man!”
Frogstomp (1995) is great, but not nearly as unique and musical as their more recent stuff. I mean, the dudes were 14 at that time, they could only get better. I firmly believe this is one of the greatest bands in recent music. Albums, Diorama (2002) and Young Modern (2007) are what make this one of my all-time favourite bands.
Straight Lines is from Young Modern.
MORE INFO FOR SILVERCHAIR FANS (VIA WIKIPEDIA):
According to Silverchair’s website, as of 7 June 2009, Silverchair has begun work on the follow-up to Young Modern, having spent three weeks recording in Australia with future sessions earmarked for the summer. No release date has been set, but the band uploaded in-studio videos working on several tracks to their official website.
On December 3, Daniel Johns called into Triple J’s Robbie, Marieke and The Doctor breakfast show and discussed Silverchair’s new album which the band are currently working on in Newcastle. He told them “the main difference is there’s a lot of experimentation with instruments and synths… I think there’s only guitar on four songs out of fifty so far,” but added the new material is “surprisingly rocky given there’s no guitar.”
