from Dan Young of This Providence:
Recently we flew down to Dallas to play a music festival called September to Remember, which was great aside from the humid, humid, humid, humidity and the hot hot heat and the bugs and Gavin spilling a Dr Pepper on his bed at the hotel. However, these are the kinds of crazy things that happen ALL THE TIME when you hang with us. So…you better get used to it. For example, remember how I mentioned the bugs? Well Gavin was crushing them on stage, just running around ending the lives of bugs everywhere in Dallas. It was sad, but like I said, that’s just how we roll. (Yes, Gavin owns a bug zapper, get over it).
Another example: On Monday we played a show with Relient K and The Scene Aesthetic at the University of Washington. It was a great show. But it was exclusively for students. Well Andy just laughed like the punk-rock rebel that he is. He invited his mom, his mom’s dog (dogs aren’t normal things to bring to shows), his girlfriend AND his girlfriend’s friends. I couldn’t believe it, I almost jumped so high from the shock of his mass texting, that I almost hit my head on the moon (it was day time, so obviously that’s impossible).
We recently were offered another festival show somewhere in America called, “October to Get Over” but we had to pass on it. They said we would get paid $10 (each of course), we would be the only band playing and we would have to cover Justin Bieber songs exclusively. And while we do believe in the Beib’s grungy, seattle-rock attitude (I think it suits us perfectly), we just couldn’t do it for less than a billion bucks (sorry America).
Cheers,
