Since 2015, Chevy drivers have been enjoying the convenience of fast internet streaming right in their car. This is thanks to the 4G LTE Wi-Fi available through OnStar. In the past two years, the popularity of OnStar 4G LTE has skyrocketed with owners using more and more data every quarter.
Data, Data, Everywhere
According to Chevrolet, drivers and their passengers used an incredible 4,220,684 gigabytes of data in 2016. This is nearly 200% more than the data used in 2015. The biggest jump in data use comes from Suburban and Tahoe owners, who used three-and-a-half times more data than in 2015.
In addition to using more data, sales of the Tahoe and Suburban have also increased. In fact, in 2016, combined sales of the best-selling SUVs were up 21%, when compared to 2015.
Alan Batey, president of GM North America and global head of Chevrolet, said, “We are attracting new buyers to Chevrolet by offering technologies like OnStar 4G LTE not available on competitive models. New owners are in turn more likely to become repeat Chevrolet customers as these features become an integral part of their day-to-day lives.”
With OnStar 4G LTE, available in nearly every Chevrolet model, up to seven devices can connect at once. This means you can stream a video, send an email, play a game, or browse social media.

Christmas has come early in the San Francisco Bay area as the first Chevy Bolt EVs were delivered to three customers. This eco-friendly, long-range electric vehicle comes at an affordable price, making it a top-notch choice for individuals looking to go green.
“All of the hard work that the Chevrolet team have put into designing, engineering, and building the Bolt EV brings us to this truly satisfying moment of making the first deliveries to customers on-time, as planned,” said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and Global Chevrolet brand chief. “Chevrolet is proud to offer a vehicle like the Bolt EV, with ground-breaking technology wrapped in a modern design that is also fun-to-drive at an affordable price.”
The first Chevy Bolt EVs delivered were sent to three California customers. The first was William Mattos, a retired law enforcement officer from Fremont; the second is Bobby Edmonds, a software developer from Castro Valley; and the third was Steve Henry, a commercial real estate broker from Portola Valley.
With an EPA-estimated 238-mile range when fully charged, the Bolt EV makes it easy for owners to get around town without worrying about running out of battery. It is this awesome range—and the EV’s affordable price—that allowed the Bolt EV to be named the Motor Trend 2017 Car of the Year.
Standard features on the Bolt EV include a Regen on Demand steering wheel paddle, a 10.2-inch color touchscreen, and electronic precision shift. The top trim even offers leather upholstery, heated seats, a surround camera, a rear camera mirror, and more tech-savvy features.
The 2017 Chevrolet Volt is raking in the awards left and right. Its most recent accolade was a spot on the prestigious Wards 10 Best Engines list. This is the third time that the Volt has earned a spot on this list, and the second year in a row it has done so.
“The Chevy Volt propulsion system wins a spot on the Wards 10 Best Engines list for the second year in a row for three reasons,” said WardsAuto Senior Content Director Drew Winter. “It has a torquey, fun-to-drive personality. It offers impressive electric-only range of 53 miles, and efficient gasoline-powered range whenever you need it for anxiety-free driving. That is flexibility unequaled in the automotive world.”
The Volt currently uses a two-motor drive unit that produces 294 lb-ft of torque. This unit is paired with an 18.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 1.5-liter gasoline Ecotec engine that helps extend range. With this system, the Volt manages to get an impressive 106 MPGe. It has 53 miles of all-electric range and 420 miles of total driving range.
Since the Volt entered the market, drivers of this model have driven an estimated 1.5 billion EV miles, helping save about 58 million gallons of gas. Along with this award-winning powertrain, the Volt also comes standard with Teen Driver Technology, which helps monitor teen drivers’ driving habits, and has available Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Automatic Braking.

Christmas gifts can be hard. You want to get the perfect gift for everyone, but sometimes it’s not that easy. But if you have any car-lovers in your life, we’re here to help! Here are some great Christmas gifts for car lovers.
Don’t underestimate the power of coasters. You can get cool racetrack coasters or you can shop around for coasters of their favorite car. Either way, it’s a great element to add to someone’s home décor that will help them express their love of cars (and save their coffee table from stains).
Who doesn’t love car racing games? Even people who aren’t car enthusiasts can enjoy them. There’s tons of great games out there, whether your car lover is into action and suspense (Fast and the Furious series) or just racing (the Need for Speed series).
If your car lover loves driving their car (and they probably do) then consider getting them a GoPro. They’ll be able to document any fun off-roading trips they go on or any race track laps they take.
If you’re less of a gift-wrap type person and your budget is big, offer to pay for customizations that your car lover has been dying to make on their car. It’ll be a long-lasting gift.
