Tipton K-9 Won’t Be Helping With Tipton Trick-or-Treating: He’s Bad at Catching Treats (but Good at Catching Bad Guys)

Tipton trick-or-treating
Halloween is right around the corner!

Did you know that dogs have been used as a tool in law enforcement since as early as the Middle Ages? Today’s K-9 units are as helpful as ever when it comes to catching the bad guys. Our K-9 unit in Tipton, Indiana, is great at catching bad guys on the job, too. But, one thing the unit is not so good at? Catching treats.

Recently, the Tipton Police Department released a fun video of their K-9 named Apachi trying hard to catch ice cubes—and missing almost every time—as an officer tossed them his way.

Fortunately, for our kids in Tipton, Indiana, Apachi can cover the bad guys while the kids catch the treats. Exact date and time for local Tipton trick-or-treating haven’t been announced just yet, but last year’s occurred on Halloween proper, and the hours are likely to run between 5 to 8 p.m.

While you’re waiting with the rest of us for more detailed information, you can take this time to talk to your kids about safe practices for trick-or-treating. For instance, be sure your kids know the importance of crossing at crosswalks, staying on sidewalks, and staying near guardians at all times. The team at Dan Young GM loves Halloween and all of the costumes involved, so if your kids are trying out their costumes before the big night, bring them to Dan Young GM to show them off!
